How to Care for Your Facial Skin Under the Tenerife Sun
In south Tenerife we enjoy sunshine almost all year round. It is one of the reasons we live here — and also the factor that most speeds up visible skin ageing. These are the habits we recommend to our clients from Palm Mar, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje.

Sun protection every day, not only at the beach
The UV index in Tenerife is high for much of the year, in winter and on cloudy days too. UVA rays pass through clouds and glass and are the main cause of pigmentation, loss of firmness and premature wrinkles.
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning as the last step of your routine and reapply every two to three hours when you are outdoors. Do not forget your ears, neck and décolleté.
Wind, calima and salt water: extra hydration
The trade winds and episodes of calima (Saharan dust) dry the skin and cover it with fine particles. Sea water and pool chlorine also disturb the skin barrier.
Cleanse gently every evening, use a toner or hydrating mist during the day and a cream that supports the barrier. If your skin feels tight or flaky, it needs more hydration — not more exfoliation.
Facials and sun: how to combine them
After a skin-renewing treatment such as the Altum Peptide™ spicule facial, the skin is more sensitive for a few days. During that time avoid strong sun exposure and always use high protection.
If you are on holiday in Tenerife, book your treatment at the start of your stay rather than on the day of a beach trip. We are happy to advise you around your plans.
Signs your skin needs a professional treatment
A dull tone, pigmentation appearing after summer, more visible pores or skin that no longer bounces back are common signs in sunny climates. A professional treatment helps restore radiance and elasticity, and a consistent home routine keeps the results.
